There are wars er hear about on the news, fights breaking out online over everything, and even tension at school or in our families. Sometimes it feels like everyone’s shouting, but on one’s really listening. So what do we do when everything feels a bit chaotic?

We bring peace.

Being a person of peace doesn’t mean staying quiet or avoiding drama. It means showing up with kindness in your eyes and love in your heart – even when things get heated. It means standing up for others, not against them. It’s choosing understanding over judgment. Forgiveness over revenge. Hope over fear.

Jesus once said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” That’s not just a cool quote for church – it’s a mission. A challenge. A way of life.

Jubilee Vibes Only

This year, Catholic communities are calling it a Year of Jubilee – a time for freedom, restoration, and fresh starts. In the Bible, Jubilee was when debts are forgiven, prisoners were set free, and the land was given a rest. (Yep, even the planet got a break!)

What is we took that seriously in 2025, 2026 …? What if we became someone who brings Jubilee vibes to your crew?

• Forgive someone who wronged you.
• Say sorry – even if it’s awkward.
• Stand up for a mater who’s copping it.
• Check in with that quiet kid.
• Put your phone down and actually listen.

That’s how peace starts. Not in some big government building, but in your own heart, in your group
chat, at your lunch table.

But I’m just a teenager … What can I really DO?
Heaps.
• You can calm someone’s storm.
• You can stop gossip before it spreads.
• You can learn about what’s going on in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan – or even in your own city – and
pray, speak, act.
• You can post love instead of hate.
• You can refuse to dehumanise people who think differently from you.

Peacemakers aren’t passive. They’re warriors in the fight for love.

Let’s flip the script

The world says, “Fight fire with fire.” But Jesus says, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” Let’s be those people. The ones who bring the good energy, the hope, the reconciliation. The ones who live like Jubilee is now – not just some ancient idea, but a way of being in a broken world.

You’re not too young. You’re not too small. You’re exactly who the world needs.
