Hey, Year 12s, it’s here. The final stretch. Exams are just around the corner, your graduation ceremonies are coming up, and life after school is starting to feel very real. Exciting? Definitely. Scary? A little. But here’s the thing: you are stepping into something bigger than just “the end of school.” You’re becoming pilgrims of hope.
Take a breath – you’ve got this. You’ve spent the last 13 years learning, growing, and becoming the person you are today. Yes, exams matter – but they don’t define your worth. Do your best, work hard, but don’t let fear take over. Remember that your value is not measured by an ATAR. You are loved and have something unique to bring to the world.
When you put on your grad gear, you’re not just celebrating marks – you’re celebrating friendships, challenges overcome, teachers who encouraged you, and the faith that’s been shaping you along the way. Take time to notice the people around you. Thank them. These moments matter.
Whether you know exactly what’s next, or you’re still figuring it out, trust that God is walking with you. Your path doesn’t have to be straight. Some of the best journeys have detours. Be open to opportunities – uni, TAFE, apprenticeships, gap years, work, travel – and stay curious.
The Church has named this the Year of Jubilee, call all of us to be pilgrims of hope. Pilgrims don’t always know every step of the journey before they begin – they just take the next one, trusting they’ll be guided. That’s you right now. Hope is not just wishing – it’s choosing to believe that God is doing something good in your life, even when you can’t see the full picture.
Yes, study. Yes, prepare. But don’t lose your sense of humour. Eat pizza with your friends, take brain breaks, go outside, laugh a lot. Your mental health matters just as much as your grades.
As you step into exams, graduation, and beyond, carry this with you: You are not just finishing school – you are starting your next adventure. Step forward as a pilgrim of hope, trusting God, backing yourself, and believing that the world needs what only you can bring.
You’ve got this. Go well.
